St. John’s is located at the corner of Old York Road (611) and Melrose Avenue. Parking is available in the gravel parking lot on Stratford Avenue, in the handicapped-accessible parking lot on Melrose Avenue, and along Melrose Avenue itself. The church building is wheelchair-accessible from the Melrose Avenue lot.
People of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds are welcome in worship!
Through the end of October, our sermons will explore some of the major ideas of the Protestant Reformation and how they are relevant for us today. Join us to learn about topics like justification, law and gospel, saint and sinner, vernacular language in worship, and the importance of music.
Blessing of the Animals: October 8
All creatures are beloved to God, so let’s give thanks for our animal companions together! Our Elkins Park and Melrose Park neighbors are invited to join us for a Blessing of the Animals on October 8! Stop by the front lawn of the church with your pets anytime between 1:30 and 3:30 in the afternoon. All species and religions are welcome; please make sure your animals are properly restrained. Photos of animals for blessings “by proxy” are also welcome; so are stuffed animals. Treats for humans, cats, and dogs will be available.
This fall, our weekly Learning Hour following worship will explore the Lord’s Prayer through scripture, conversation, art, and food. All ages are welcome — every generation has something to teach and something to learn!
Is your congregation, mission start, or nonprofit in need of space to worship and work? Are you looking for a venue for your wedding reception, baby shower, or retirement party? Long-term and one-time rentals are available at St. John’s at affordable rates. Contact our office to learn more.
