St. John’s is located at the corner of Old York Road (Route 611) and Melrose Avenue. Parking is available in the gravel parking lot on Stratford Avenue, in the handicapped-accessible parking lot on Melrose Avenue, and along Melrose Avenue itself. The church building is wheelchair-accessible from the Melrose Avenue lot.
People of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds are welcome in worship! We are a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
Beginning on April 15, our weekly Learning Hour will explore the ELCA’s new draft social statement on women and justice. Learn more about the statement here. The Learning Hour meets at 11:30 after worship.
The memorial service for Joyce Rasmussen is scheduled for Saturday, May 19 at St. John’s. Visitation begins at 9:00 am in the Hagan Room. The service follows at 10:30 in the sanctuary. Handicapped-accessible parking is available in the small parking lot on Melrose Avenue. Other parking is available in the gravel lot accessible from Stratford Avenue, on the street along Melrose Avenue, and in the parking lot across Melrose Avenue from the church at Gratz College.
This month, St. John’s is exploring the possibility of adding a prayground to our sanctuary. A prayground is a small quiet play area in a sanctuary for babies, toddlers, and their families. Praygrounds help churches welcome and retain families with young children. You can learn more about praygrounds in this month’s newsletter, while you are at church for worship, from the Prayground FAQ available here, and from members of the Prayground Task Force.
Is your congregation, mission start, or nonprofit in need of space to worship and work? Are you looking for a venue for your wedding reception, baby shower, or retirement party? Long-term and one-time space-sharing agreements are available at St. John’s for affordable donations. Contact our office to learn more.
