Psalm 145.10: All your works shall give thanks to you, O Lord, and all your faithful shall bless you.
Art allows us to express and experience the great depths of feeling for which everyday words are not sufficient. Beauty and ugliness, transcendence and immanence can all be conveyed marvelously through art. Through art, God’s works can be revealed, and we can give thanks to God in new and creative ways.
St. John’s Lutheran Church, in addition to being blessed with stunning architecture and stained glass windows, is committed to lifting up the arts through all its ministries. Worship, especially, is when the musical arts are regularly featured.
The Creative Arts Series is an ongoing ministry showcasing local artists and their work. Art is exhibited in the Hagan Room and openings feature talks by the artists and refreshments. Often, the art is available for purchase. Performances usually take place in the St. John’s sanctuary. A free will offering is taken to cover costs.
